Going somewhere new can be intimidating.

Let’s walk through what you can expect when you visit us!

  • 9550 W Cheyenne Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89129

in the Northwest corner of the Las Vegas Valley

  • There are two entrances to the Mountain View Lutheran campus, one on the east side and one on the west side. Both entrances lead to plenty of parking spaces!

  • There are welcome signs by the entrance doors!

  • Sundays at 8am we offer our Traditional Worship Service. While historic, it is neither stiff nor stodgy, but rather a joyful occasion of thanksgiving for God’s remarkable gifts and promises.

Smiles, laughter, and sounds from your children are all very welcome! We sing hymns with an organ or piano (and occasionally other special musicians), and we follow an ancient pattern of activities, shared by believers for hundreds of years. The words we speak throughout the service come directly from the Bible and include things like the confession of our sins, creeds or statements of our beliefs (which we share in common with Christians around the world and throughout history), and even the song of the angels sung over Jesus' heavenly throne in the book of Isaiah. We offer Communion every Sunday.

You can follow along in the hymnal or on the screens. And if you have any questions, the people next to you in the pews are great resources - just tap someone on the shoulder, and they'll be happy to tell you anything you need to know, or direct you to someone else who may have more answers!

  • After our Traditional Service we take a coffee break to enjoy time with our Mountain View Lutheran Community! This is a great time to make a coffee and head over to our Welcome Desk! This is where you can meet some of our members, gather information about all that we have to offer, and get directions to where all of our Bible Studies are held! If you have any questions, you’ll find your answers at the Welcome Desk!

  • At 9:30am on Sundays we have what we call our Education & Equipping Hour. During this time we offer a variety of Bible Studies, a Sunday School, and a Nursery.

Our Adult Bible Study subject changes frequently. We are always looking for suggestions on what to talk about next, if you have a request, send an email to churchoffice@mvlcs.org!

We offer two Bible Studies for our Youth, one for middle school-aged youth, and one for high school-aged youth!

Our Sunday School Class is catered to elementary school-aged kids.

We have a Nursery for children who are younger than 5.

If you need help locating any of these, we have maps located near the doors when you walk in, and you are also encouraged to ask someone at the Welcome Desk!

  • Our 10:30am service is done in a contemporary worship style with a praise band and modern-style Christian music.

Like our 8:00am service, it is built of the same time-honored elements: confession of sins and forgiveness, creeds or statements of belief, prayer, Scripture readings, a sermon, and Communion.

You can follow along on the screens. As always, if you have any questions, the people all around you are happy to help you with any questions you may have!

What to Expect
on a Sunday:

What About…?

  • We love kids, and we love to see them in church, receiving God's gifts along with their families. Our weekly children's message is a chance for the kids to interact and learn about being involved. There are some 'quiet bags' available near the Welcome Desk if they would like some activities during the service.

We have a Cry Room towards the back of the Sanctuary open for use every Sunday, where families can go to provide comfort, change diapers, or nurse their children.

Between services, during our Education & Equipping Hour (9:30am-10:30am), we have a staffed Nursery for children under the age of 5.

If you need help finding the Nursery or the Cry Room, please ask one of our Greeters!

  • You will see a wide array of dress at Mountain View Lutheran Church. There are no requirements, like the old 'no white after Labor Day' adage. From suits and ties, to jeans and t-shirts, we want you here.

What one is willing or able to wear has no bearing on the great things God will do for them through the hearing of His Word!

  • We believe and teach that the real, literal body and blood of Jesus Christ are mysteriously present in the bread and wine used in communion. Thus, we ask that those communing with us are baptized Christians, with the same understanding of the sacrament.

If you don't feel comfortable taking communion, you're welcome to come up and receive a blessing. Just cross your arms over your chest to signify that you would like to receive a blessing.

Children in our church take communion once they have received instruction on what it is, means, and does for us. However, it's a joy for families to come to the altar together and all receive God's blessings, whether they are spoken over the individuals, or imparted through sacrament of communion.

If you have any questions about Communion you can reach out to churchoffice@mvlcs.org.
