uniquely mountain view
A number of things make Mountain View Lutheran Preschool different. First and foremost, is our focus on Jesus Christ. We want our students and their families to love the Lord and live in the assurance of His salvation. We also want to help you develop children of the highest character: children who are kind, gentle, and have a love for their neighbor as well as a love for learning.
Our school offers a variety of opportunities to develop well-rounded students with the skills and abilities to enjoy athletics, art, music, and drama. Click the items below to learn more about these opportunities, understand our policies, and see what makes us who we are...and our students who they are.
Our preschoolers can sign up for karate, dance, or soccer skills and attend the once-weekly classes during the school day. Instruction is held during nap-time, so they don't miss any educational time.
Each of the organizations employ renowned local instructors with programs for all ages. If your student gets hooked, they can continue with their program long after they have graduated from Mountain View.
Brochures on each of these offerings can be found in the school office.
There is a lot of buzz about technology in schools, and it is certainly a great tool. But we believe technology to be just that - a great tool. Not the great tool. Thus, we ensure that our fifth graders are well-equipped to enter a middle school setting with one-to-one technology, keeping an iPad cart in the room for age-appropriate activities. And we teach skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations to all elementary grades.
Even more importantly, we foster face-to-face interactions, allot weekly library time, and encourage social-emotional development in every single classroom, at every age level.
There are many wonderful ways to learn, grow, and develop. At Mountain View Lutheran School, we aim to encompass a wide variety of those methods and nurture a child's natural enjoyment of exploration and activity.
You may have a church family. You may be part of ours. Or perhaps you don't currently have one, or never have. No matter your situation, the congregation at Mountain View Lutheran Church is OUR family. The church loves and supports this ministry materially, through their time, and in regular prayer. You will see their faces at events, at our annual fundraising gala, and even as classroom volunteers.
Pastor Derek is here to serve the needs of the parents and kids at the school, and is available for family needs, pastoral support, answering your questions, and a friendly smile as he pops in and out of classrooms.
Don't hesitate to lean on this family of believers. We are all here for one another - connecting, caring, and sharing through Christ.
Our 4-year old class and our transitional Kindergarten classes get together once a week to collaborate together in their learning. Each group of students are a mix of the two classes, and they rotate among centers throughout the morning. They visit the music and movement center, library center, science and social studies center, and language art center, as well as our nutrition and snack center. This style allows the students to learn within a smaller diverse group while allowing the teachers to instruct to their passionate subject and strength.
One of our school parents said her favorite thing about Mountain View Lutheran was walking the halls with her son after he had attended preschool, and hearing countless elementary students greet him by name.
Our preschool kids have regular interaction with older "homework buddies" who read to them, help them learn tasks like writing their name, and practice other classroom activities.
Throughout elementary grades, too, class activities encourage an educational community that crosses the halls and builds seemingly unlikely friendships. By the time these students enter fifth grade, they are proud to watch over the little kids and take them under their wing. A foundation for and excitement about service is nurtured in such a natural way, kids discover it is something they want to do.
In addition to serving one another and building school-wide friendships, our students are excited to serve those beyond their own campus. We hear the Gospel message every day in the classroom and every week at chapel. Then, from family connections to community events to international missions, our students don’t just see what it means to share the love of Jesus,
they do it.
OUR GOAL at Mountain View is to bring the saving grace of Christ to His people. Through weekly worship, small group studies, family activities, youth group, Sunday School, and fellowship, we aim to teach people about their Savior and surround them with a Cloud of Witnesses - a family of believers to love, support, and encourage them in their faith walk. Together, we enjoy the freedom we have in Christ and the joy found in the knowledge of our eternal salvation.
